Who is liable in the event of an incident/accident which happens during a visit with a Greeter?

Each of the participants on the walk does so under their own liability. The Greeters, like the visitors are covered by their own civil liability insurance. The Tourist Office accepts no liability in the event of an accident, failure or dispute which occurs during a walk.

If you become a Greeter, is it a lifetime commitment? Can we terminate our Greeter commitment?

Of course! The Greeters concept is based on volunteering. You are not in any way forced to accept visits if you are not available, and you can stop leading visits whenever you want. You just need to inform us.

Can we take a visitor to a museum?

You can take a visitor to a museum or a tourist attraction, but the idea is that visits with Greeters take place outside in public places. Also, we would like to remind you the professional tour guides work in these sites and bring their knowledge to the tour. If, however, you would like to take visitors to a museum, please remember that each visitor must pay to enter.

Do Greeters have to point out the most important sites in their town?

What do YOU think are the most important sites? Don’t base your walk on those of guides or pre-existing routes, but what you want to show and what you want the visitors to discover. Take them to your favourite places, which are important to you, which you know well and which speak to you.

Must Greeters be specialised in a field, a district, etc, to lead a walking tour?

A visit with a Greeter is not a guided tour. Unlike a professional guide, Greeters are there to give their personal vision of their town, their favourite locations, their experience, etc.

How long does a walk with a Greeter last?

In general, a walk with a Greeter lasts between 2 and 3 hours. But you can adapt the time based on a number of criteria: the theme, the places you want them to discover, the weather, your interests, and the time that you and your visitors have available…

How much does it cost?

The service offered by the Cannes Greeters is entirely free. The Greeters are volunteers.
